Family of Man Council Holds Charity Breakfast in Support of Gabriel House, Inc.

The Family of Man Council 7566 of the Knights of Columbus held their monthly charity breakfast on December 4, 2022, at the St John Neumann parish auditorium. The breakfast raised funds for Gabriel Homes, Inc. (www.gabrielhomes.org), a private nonprofit organization promoting independence through residential placement, training, and community integration for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Reston and Herndon, Virginia. Gabriel Homes Executive Director Lynn Davis spoke to the breakfast attendees, thanking them for their support. She stated that the funds raised would fund a continuing project to upgrade the homes.

Gabriel Homes enables the adults they serve to open their doors to independence. Their residential placement puts a roof over their heads and, more importantly, a solid foundation under their feet. Gabriel Homes offers these adults support and encouragement to develop their full potential. The organization distinguishes itself from other live-in facilities by emphasizing independent living within a strong community context. Several SJN parishioners are residents of Gabriel Homes.

The Council holds charity breakfasts every month (except for July through September), with the proceeds from the breakfast dedicated to a nonprofit organization that are consistent with the Order’s Faith, Family, Community, and Life programs. The Council’s next breakfast is on January 8, 2023. The designated charity will be A Best Choice Mobile Ultrasound and Pregnancy Resource Center, the only mobile ultrasound and pregnancy resource center in the Northern Virginia area offering free pregnancy tests and limited ultrasound.
