On Saturday, October 25, 2025, twelve Brother Knights from Family of Man Council #7566 brought warmth and nourishment to the Embry Rucker Community Shelter in Reston, grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for residents, walk-ins, and staff.

In the early afternoon, the team transported a large grill from Saint John Neumann Catholic Church (SJN) to the shelter and set it up on the small hill behind the facility. While the charcoal heated up, the Knights enjoyed camaraderie as they prepared for the busy cookout ahead. They grilled approximately 95 hamburgers and 95 hot dogs, serving them alongside drinks and sides provided by the shelter staff. Once the meal service wrapped up, the team cooled the grill, cleaned the cooking area, and returned all equipment to SJN, leaving the site spotless.

A heartfelt thank you goes to PGK Dave Donnelly, whose unwavering commitment anchors our community service efforts. Thanks also go to Eddie Byrne for coordinating the cookout with the Shelter. Joining them were WFS and PGK Keith George, PGK John Moran, PGK Kevin Kramp, PGK Bill McInerney, PGK Tom Broaderick, and Knights John Geraerdts, Joe Cella, Frank Radics, Brian Kingsbury, and John Seo. Your dedication to our Council’s mission of service strengthens our community and embodies the spirit of the Knights of Columbus.
